Let’s unite in the food waste fight

We live in a country where one third of the food we produce never gets eaten. UK households, restaurants and retailers, according to WRAP, the waste experts, needlessly discard 12 million tonnes of food every year.

On Friday, 13th January 2017 Marcus Gover, CEO of WRAP, wrote: “We are calling on all businesses, organisations, campaigners and NGOs who work in this area to unite and step up the fight against food waste. Along with every person in the UK.”

And the good news is that major food retailers are beginning to introduce initiatives like Tesco’s Perfectly Imperfect range, which stops farmers discarding misshapen edible fruit and vegetables.
